My Experience with Alcohol Addiction

I have worked extensively with alcohol dependency at both the Priory Hospital and Nightingale Hospital, helping clients at all stages of recovery — from early intervention and detox support through to long-term sobriety maintenance and relapse prevention.

My integrative approach draws on CBT, psychodynamic therapy, and Post-Induction Therapy (PIT) to address both the addiction itself and the underlying emotional drivers — whether that's trauma, anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties.

"I work in a very caring, understanding and kind way to foster and begin a therapeutic relationship that supports lasting change."

– Richard Lee, MBACP Accred

Signs You May Need Alcohol Counselling

Alcohol dependency doesn't always look like drinking every day. It can be subtle — drinking to cope with stress, feeling unable to stop once you start, or noticing that alcohol is taking up more space in your life than you'd like.

Drinking more than you intended, or for longer periods than planned
Finding it difficult to stop or cut down, despite wanting to
Experiencing strong cravings or preoccupation with drinking
Neglecting responsibilities at work, home, or in relationships
Using alcohol to cope with stress, anxiety, or difficult emotions
Continuing to drink despite negative consequences to health or relationships
Experiencing withdrawal symptoms when not drinking
Feeling guilt, shame, or secrecy around your drinking

If any of these resonate, you're not alone — and help is available.
